Employees in this position clean and apply sealant to fuel tank/airplane components per drawings and specifications. These employees will perform repetitive ""in process"" sealing on open and accessible wing integral fuel tank items and other assemblies (e.g., floors, ribs, spars, wing panels). Employees will assist in pressure testing. Employment in this position also requires rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, crawling, crouching, standing, kneeling, reaching, climbing/balancing, flexion/extension, contact with sealants and solvents, exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm, and ears. Additional Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Obtain daily work assignment from lead/supervisor, or call sheet. Obtain and read drawings to determine area to be worked. Obtain necessary sealant, solvent, cleaners, and wipers from hazardous material crib or shop storage area. Set-up ventilation equipment, as required, to supply fresh air in work areas. Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., scissors lifts, elevated work platforms). Clean and adjust seal equipment and insure that equipment is functioning properly. Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment. Use respirator as required. Ensure aircraft is properly grounded prior to cleaning operations, as required. Clean interior/exterior surfaces using solvents or detergents and water. Seal and/or topcoat per specifications including fillet seal to system components, bushings, fittings that penetrate fuel cells, and tubing ground straps, sealing heads and collars of fasteners. Apply brush coat, as required. Apply corrosion preventative seal, as required. Measure, hand layout, and apply aerodynamic seal to skin gaps on leading edge and trailing edge panel gaps. Prepare surface (e.g., masking, drying, vacuuming) for paint. Submit completed job or in-process checks, as required, to inspector at appropriate steps in sequence for acceptance or rejection. Perform rework as required per Pick Up, Special Repair, Rejection Tag, Non-Conformance Record, or other authorized instructions. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner (e.g., solvents, thinners, and primers). Clean up work areas and equipment.
